Object Description
A Rare George 111 Antique Mahogany Pedestal Desk.
This lovely pedestal desk has a very attractive old, hand coloured, green writing surface with blind and gilt tooling. This is surrounded by a well figured cross band of mahogany with a ‘thumb moulding’ and square corners.
The top is fitted with three drawers and three to each of the pedestals. The drawers are deal lined and constructed with hand cut dovetail joints, brass locks and keys.
The drawer fronts are edged with cock-beading and fitted with brass pull knobs. The pedestals stand on plinth bases with hidden castors.
This very attractive antique Georgian desk is in good antique condition with minor knocks and bumps commensurate with two centuries of use. It is polished all round so that it can used as a free standing piece.
Over the years the desk has developed an attractive deep patina and has the elegant proportions associated with Georgian style furniture.
The desk is made in three sections, top and two separate pedestals, for ease of transportation and installation.
