A delightful little antique sterling silver taper stick of plain early design with baluster stem and square octagonal foot with a sunken well. Cast silver. Weight 116 grams, 3.7 troy ounces. Height 11 cms. Base 7×7 cm. London 1725. Maker Samuel Hitchcock.
Biography – Samuel Hitchcock, London silversmith, apprenticed to John Brace 1699, free 1707. Mark entered as largeworker 1713. 2nd (sterling) mark 1720. Livery 1721. 3rd mark 1730.
