A set of eight Antique George III Sterling silver dinner plates which are round in shape with wavy edged borders and gadroon decoration, plain bodies and resting on flat bases. These silver plates have been made to a high standard and in general have been well cared for over the years. They have some slight scratch marks on the bodies which is in keeping with them actually being used. These silver plates would look impressive on the table and would be perfect to use. They weigh 141 troy ounces in total.
The crest on each plate is that of William Lowther, Ist Earl of Lonsdale (1757-1844). He was created Earl of Lonsdale and a knight of the Garter in 1807.
