Object Description
In exceptional condition and dating from the early 20th century this Kashan carpet was produced by the Dabir workshop in the city of Kashan, Persia. They were famous for weaving the most intricate and delicate floral designs using the best wool available, which was known as Kork wool. It took much longer to weave workshop carpets of this quality and expert weavers would have taken a couple of years to complete this elaborate and remarkable carpet. Dabir workshop hence produced a smaller amount of carpets and these are sought after pieces due to their intricate designs and weaving of the highest quality. The wool pile of on this carpet is very high throughout, the kork wool is very glossy and has almost a silk sheen to it. A remarkable elegant antique Kashan, and increasingly collectable.
