Object Description
This antique mahogany partners desk was made in the mid 19th century from well-figured timbers. Sympathetically restored it has a replacement leather writing surface, surrounded by mahogany with ‘thumb’ moulded edge.
The desk has rounded corners and three drawers to each side of the top.
This is a deep ‘partners desk, ‘ (being almost square 54″ x 48″) constructed to accommodate two people and can be set up to have a set of drawers and a cupboard on both sides or all drawers on one side and cupboards on the other.
All drawers the have ‘hand cut dovetail joints’, mahogany linings, original brass locks (with keys)
and embossed brass ring pull handles (old replacements).
As with most pedestal desks this comes in three sections the top and two pedestals with hidden castors,
for ease of installation and transportation.
The desk has been cleaned and polished, including french polishing and a has a replacement black hide writing surface with gilt and blind tooling.
This is a good quality, well proportioned partners desk has an attractive rich
mahogany colour and would make a lovely focal point in an office or study.
