Object Description
This handsome antique pedestal desk has well figured mahogany timbers throughout. It has a replacement black hide writing surface with gilt and blind tooling. This is surrounded by a cross-band of mahogany with round corners.
The frieze and pedestals are each fitted with three drawers which have ash and pine linings, hand cut dovetail joints and brass locks. The front edges of the drawers are cock beaded with brass escutcheons and turned wooden knobs.
The desk is made in three sections, the top and two pedestals which stand on plinth bases with hidden castors for ease of installation.
This desk is slightly higher than the standard size at 32 inches and thus allows for a little more knee-hole room which may be useful for a taller person. It is a good quality antique desk in good condition which would look perfect in any traditional or contemporary office or study.
