Object Description
A fine oil on canvas paintings by Adolphe Alexandre Lesrel (1839-1929) “The Acquisition” signed and dated 1875 and Inscribed on a label verso.
The painting delightfully presents an expansive scene of a vast palace interior with gentlemen in period costumes pondering a new acquisition.
The artist used very vibrant colours to add some mystery to the scenery and contrast the vivid light in the back-ground.
Housed in its beautiful and original giltwood frame.

Adolphe Alexandre Lesrel (19 May 1839 – 25 February 1929)
was a French painter. He was born in Genêts, France, and had his artistic training under Jean-Léon Gérôme, whose style he followed. His paintings are in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen. He specialized in historical genre paintings. At a 2012 Sotheby’s auction, one of his paintings, The Practice Recital, was sold for US $86,500.
