Object History
Dating from the early part of the 20th century their condition is impeccable, with a fine weave and excellent wool the pile is high and strong all over. Thus making them not only very attractive but durable too. A few smaller areas have minimal wear but there are no holes or rewoven areas and the dyes are true to the period and have no nasty colours. A fantastic rare pair of runners which can be used and enjoyed for another 100 years.
Antique Sivas carpets, rugs and runners are beautifully constructed and decorative Anatolian works of art. More-often finely woven, Sivas carpets tend to be made within a classically-derived Persian medallion and allover designs using scrolling vines and palmettes flowing. Some Sivas rugs recreate the appeal and design of the early classical carpets. Ivory ground tones and soft yellows and pinks are common dyes used in these Turkish pieces. Both elegant and refined these runners would look stunning in the right setting.
