Object Description

An excellent set of sterling silver cutlery for 6 people in the popular Kings pattern. Total 31 pieces. Weight 2261 grams, 72.7 troy ounces. All pieces London 1896-7, maker Francis Higgins.

Biography – Francis Higgins was one of the leading silversmiths of the mid Victorian era. He had been apprenticed to George Smith and his work was always of the highest quality. After his death in 1879 the business was continued by his sons becoming Francis Higgins & Son Ltd in 1909 and Francis Higgins & Sons Ltd (1936-1939). Also traded as The Portland Co.

Object Condition

This complete set of sterling silver flatware is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. All pieces have matching English silver hallmarks. The bowls and tines are good.
