Object Description

A charming model of a German shepherd dog in sterling silver. Large size. Very realistic. Beautiful expressive face. He’s standing in a relaxed, somewhat expectant pose, with his tongue out and tail outstretched. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, you can even see where the fur has been ruffled by his stud collar. Heavy gauge silver.
Weight 690 grams, 22.1 troy ounces.
Height 15.6cm. Spread 20.8cm.
English silver hallmarks for London import 1900.

BERTHOLD MULLER
Berthold Mueller was an import firm, who distributed a lot of Neresheimer silver. The firm changed its name in 1915 to Berthold Muller and was listed as wholesale silversmiths and jewellers, antique reproduction in silver, ivories, miniatures, enamels, and so forth. B. Neresheimer & Sohne, Hanau, Germany offered a wide range of highly decorative objects like nefs, tankards, coconut and nautilus cups, and other sumptuous sideboard pieces. Hanau silver was largely imported in UK between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

Object Condition

The silver dog is in very good condition. Stamped underneath one foot with a full set of English silver hallmarks (London import).
