This is a beautiful antique Victorian triple clam shell shaped silver plated biscuit box stamped by the silversmith’s to the Queen, Mappin & Webb of Sheffield England, circa 1870 in date.
The scalloped shell shaped biscuit box features a figural cherub finial and three seated cherubs to the frame. The shell shaped body is supported by a decorative twig frame terminating in hoof feet.
The box opens simultaneously in three parts to reveal three hinged compartments with decorative pierced dividers.
This elaborate container could house anything from sweets to biscuits, trinkets or earrings. Whatever you choose to store in this lovely item you are sure to do it in style.
