Object Description
An excellent burr yew circular snuff box, having a central dedication boss engraved, ‘Presented to the Rev James Bond Dumbarton by a member of his congregation’ and with an enclosed piece of paper which reads, ‘This snuff box made from yew with silver mounting was given to my great grandfather while minister of the relief congregation Dumbarton 1831-1837’. It was presumably made from a churchyard yew tree and is in wonderful condition,as well as having a wonderful colour and patination.
