An extremely fine curved rosewood knitting sheath, having inlaid tunbridge ware style decoration, with an oblique ivory slot across the face to take the apron string. A silver inset diamond shaped plaque bordered in ivory and engraved, ‘A Wood Born Aug-t 26 1821. The needle end has an ivory diamond and on the back is an inlaid brass heart inscribed J.M. This is the finest quality knitting sheath we have seen, and has a lovely rich colour and excellent patination. It is a remarkable item.
