Object Description
A most attractive staved oak Scottish spirit costrel, which is banded in willow at both ends. It has a raised bung hole, which has a brass plate and a hollow domed cap, which fits the cork bung and it has a brass turn catch to secure it when closed. The ends of the barrel are glazed, so that one can see the amount of the contents within. The whole has a pleasing pale colour and retains a patination.
