Object Description
A most attractive 19th century stable candle holder, which were used in stables with the candle contained within a wire cage to stop it toppling over onto the straw causing a fire. The handle also acts as a traveller to raise or lower the candle with a further handle at the top for hanging and carrying. It is an unusual example, having a carved oak base with eight baluster supports. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
