This handwoven Kazak rug is an excellent example of Caucasian rug weaving from the Kazak region. This dark blue rug has a Shiny background and 3 stylish Central Medallions. This woven rug has a great range of colours with vibrant yellow, red and ivory accents which add depth. The profusion of hook motifs, a common good luck charm on the edges of the field.
These wool rugs look beautiful and are ideal for dining room rugs and bedroom rugs.

Object History

Kazak rugs are primarily produced as village productions rather than city pieces. Made from materials particular to individual tribal provinces. The oriental rugs of the Caucasus normally display bold geometric designs in primary colours. This piece was woven in the 1890s but is in excellent condition for its age
