A beautiful antique garnet and diamond cross pendant c. 1880s, the Latin style cross set with cushion shaped deep red garnets with rose diamond points between, each arm terminated with a stylised fleur-de-lys motif set with rose-cut diamonds, each cross-section is decorated with a little fleur-de-lys as well, all suspended from a garnet and diamond V-shape bale and set in silver and gold. This is a highly decorative cross with wonderfully rich red garnets that glow like pomegranate seeds and need little in the way of diamonds to set them off. The scrolling terminations and little embellishments add to its impressive appearance and it would look lovely hung from an antique gold chain of similar period.
