Object Description

An antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug which has a tall bulbous shaped cut glass body, a nicely engraved silver mount and a good pouring spout with a Bacchus head motif. The hinged silver lid has an attractive pierced thumb piece and there is a good sized handle with a strap work feature around the body to give extra support. This fine silver and glass claret jug would hold a litre of wine comfortably, would be perfect to use on the dining table and would make a useful addition to a collection.
