Object Description

An antique William IV sterling silver meat platter/serving dish made by Paul Storr which is oval shape in design with a plain body, gadroon decoration around the edges and resting on a flat base. This silver meat plate has been made to a high standard, as one would expect from Paul Storr, and would be perfect to use on the table. There is a crest on one side of the body and there are some slight scratch marks on the plate in keeping with natural use over the years. This silver meat plate/serving dish would make a useful addition to a Paul Storr collection. It weighs 49 troy ounces (1,525 grams).

The arms on the meat plate are those of Henry Preston of Moreby Hall, Yorkshire and his wife, Anna Crompton, daughter of Joshua Crompton of Esholt Hall, Yorkshire. They were married in 1814.
