A beautiful Art Deco diamond and onyx bracelet c.1930s, the finely articulated straight sided strap bracelet composed of a central row of twelve carved and polished pieces of onyx each inlaid to the centre with a round diamond in millegrian bezel setting, joined at the top and bottom by curved diamond-set links, all to a concealed tongue and box clasp. This wonderful bracelet is quintessentially Art Deco in style and combines several themes typical of the aesthetic of jewellery from this period. The geometric shapes, the openwork strap design, the juxtaposition of just two contrasting colours particularly black and white and the use of carved onyx as a precious gemstone are all signifiers of Art Deco jewels. The open spaces in the bracelet lend it a lightness, whilst the polarity between the opaque blackness of the onyx and the colourless transparency of the diamonds create a striking contrast. Whether worn alone or stacked with others (as it would likely have been worn originally) this bracelet will make an elegant and stylish addition to any jewellery collection.
