Object Description
An exceptional and stunning early Art Deco, probably Austrian, bronze pelican mounted on a black veined green marble like dish dating from around 1920. The heavily polished dish is of rounded form with a shallow polished out recess located to the front of the dish with the wider rear edge mounted with a cast bronze pelican attached by a screw bolted underneath the dish. The heavily made dish has black veining and spotting characteristics set against a dark mottled green ground and is stunning. The pelican is well cast with excellent detail and has a wonderful natural deep brown patina. The dish is not marked.
