Object Description

A fine English late George III period striking table clock of rare small size. The classic arched top case with a single pad is veneered in patinated ebonised pearwood and has brass mouldings. It stands on four brass ogee bracket feet and has a finely cast and chased carrying handle.

The 4 ¾ inch arched silvered brass dial has a chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and a subsidiary strike/silent in the arch. The blued steel Barwise style hands are very fine and appear to be original.

The double fusee 8-day duration movement has an original anchor escapement and hour strike and repeat on a bell. The substantial back plate fills almost the entire case, a sure sign of quality workmanship.

This beautiful little clock is in pristine condition and is highly collectable.
