Object Description
A wonderful vintage gold and diamond ‘Serpent Bohème’ bangle by Boucheron c.1970, designed as a solid wrap around style bangle with hinged opening at the centre back in heavily textured 18ct yellow gold, the two ends tapering to large pear-shaped heads terminating at the front in a diagonal cross over and pavé set throughout with round brilliant cut diamonds. This is an iconic collection from the Maison Boucheron which has been re-worked and designed across the decades, however the original vintage designs such as this are our favourites. The collection was first launched in 1968 and according to the Maison was designed to embody freedom and reflect a modern femininity. A testament to good design is its ability to remain relevant, desirable and wearable over the years and this bangle certainly achieves that. The tactile texture of the gold, asymmetry of design and stylised ‘serpent’ form mean it still feels contemporary and stylish over forty years later.
