Object Description
A pair of bell metal Travel Brighton Bun Candlesticks.
Although not unknown, bell metal is an unusual material for Brighton Buns with those made of metal normally brass or silver. The heavy, cast dishes are fairly plain with a very slight lip to the edge. The screw in sconces are also heavy and have 3 ring turnings for simply decoration. The dish interiors have a number of scratches and marks where the 2 removed sconces have moved about inside their bun packing case during travel. These and those to the exterior of the dishes add to the character of the candlesticks. Mid 19th Century.
