Circa 1880, bronze figure of Cupid. Holding a gilded arrow of love and kneeling on a foliate base, the figure of Cupid is on a circular ormolu (gilded bronze) plinth. It is signed ‘Carlier’ to the back of the base (next to Cupid’s foot). Emile Joseph Carlier of Paris was born in 1849 and achieved great fame with his bronzes now exhibited in more than 30 museums worldwide.
