Object Description
An early 20thc bronze figure of ‘the Neopolitan Fisherboy’, after Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827 – 1875).
The original plaster was shown in Rome in 1858. Bronze editions in various sizes were cast by his brother, Emile Carpeaux and later by Susse.
This piece has been electrified in the past, although at present is purely a decorative item.
The boy holds a large shell to his ear and a fishing net drapes from his leg.
This bronze is in very good condition for age.
