A simply beautiful portfolio, overseen and designed entirely by the artist and rare to find in such excellent condition.In these notebooks Georges Braque recorded his thoughts on art and life in his own handwriting and with his own illustrations. They are reproduced with 118 black and white photo-lithographs including the later supplement published by Maeght in 1956.

During World War one Braque was wounded in the head and was temporarily blinded. This injury prevented him from painting for over a year. He resumed working in 1916 and the personal notes in this book began that year.

Buckram portfolio with illustrated printed boards by Braque containing first expanded edition comprising of loose leaf lithographed sheets of ninety-four pages covering 1917-1947 and twenty-four additional pages covering 1947-1955 contained in blue printed wrappers.
