Object Description
A fine and scarce pair Art Deco Carter, Stabler & Adams Poole pottery elephant bookends designed by Harold Brownsworth (1885-1964) and dating from the late 1920’s. The elephants stand raised on a shaped base and are well modeled with their heads down in a pushing position. The bookends are decorated in beige glazes with pink tones and with brown flecking through the glaze. Both have impressed makers marks to the base along with other marks however these have filled in part with glaze.
