This fine wool area rug has been woven by hand in Azerbaijan in the 1890s. The central design has been woven on a blue background with a large central medallion with surrounding tree motifs which have been woven in red. This is then framed by a layered repeat pattern border. Both the colour and pattern in this piece make it the perfect accent rug for any home. This piece is suitable for use as a bedroom rug, living room rug, entranceway rug or dining room rug. Easily style with both modern and traditional home interiors.

Object History

Woven with fine, hand-spun wool which has been dyed with organic techniques used for generations. The techniques and materials used create hard wearing pieces, made to last for generations. Karabakh is a region that is in present day known as Eastern Armenia and Southwestern Azerbaijan. The female population of this region are known for the professional weaving techniques and skills, famous to this day for their fine wool carpets.
