Object Description

Chinese c1750 Export ware Famille Rose Porcelain tea pot made during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong at the kilns in Jingdezhen.
Painted with ‘The Valentine Pattern’. Each side painted with two doves perched on a quiver of arrows in front of an ‘alter of love’ and a bread fruit plant. The pattern is repeated around the knop on the lid.
Although there are variations of the pattern they are all based on an armorial dinner service ordered in 1743 by Lord Anson based on a drawing by Sir Piercy Brett who accompanied him on a journey around the world 1740-1744 The design became popular during the 18th century.

Object Condition

Some glaze loss to the knop caused by rings on fingers and minor firing faults to below handle Overall very good
