Object Description

This is a beautiful, rare, rectangular small Chinese porcelain miniature teapot dating to the very early 19th Century, Daoguang period of the Qing dynasty.

The piece is well potted in a rectangular shape with a loop handle having an upper spur. The lid is rectangular with a knob handle.

The piece is very finely hand decorated, en grisaille ( shades of grey) with different figural scenes to the front and back together with further delicate decoration to the sides and lid top. There are hand gilded details to the edging, spout and handle. The painting is very well carried out with flesh tones in iron red.

There are no markings to the base.

In summary, a very beautiful Chinese miniature teapot, which we date to the Qing dynasty, Daoguang period, circa 1825.
