Object Description

A finely modelled glazed ceramic bowl from the Chinese Kangxi Period, a golden age for blue and white ceramics. The porcelain bowl appears decorated with a beautiful floral design, comprising chrysanthemum flowers, painted in rich cobalt blue. The bowl has been recovered from the Blue Chrysanthemum Shipwreck.

Date: Late 17th century AD

Period: Kangxi Period

Condition: Fine, complete and intact. Dulling of glazed surfaces due to seawater exposure.

Object History

Provenance: From the ‘Blue Chrysanthemum Wreck’; lost in the South China sea, late 17th century AD, recovered 2014.
