Object Description
Chinese transitional blue and white ko-sometsuke small plate with loosely painted square seal mark to the base
Made during the 17th century during the reign of the Emperor Tianqi for export to Japan at Jingdezhen.
Painted with a figurative narrative scene showing a figure o a promontory awaiting the arrival of a boat. Pagodas, mountains and trees in a landscape setting are surrounding the figure.
The sides are loosely painted with a key fret design and the cavetto with a wave pattern
As with all ko-sometsuke there are deliberate flaws and imperfections this has kiln grit around the foot rim
