Object Description
Chinese 17th century Transitional Porcelain Wucai Sleeve vase made during the reign of the first Qing Emperor Shunzhi c1650.
The main body is painted with panels of flowering peonies and lotus with scrolling foliage with borders of stylized flower heads in a diaper style.
The shoulder below the waisted neck is painted with scrolling Ruyi head clouds below lappets. the top of the neck is outlined with an under glaze blue single line
The base is painted with stiff leaves above a double circle of under glaze blue.
the base is flat and the edge is slightly rebetted.
Wucai means five colours although the use of five colours is not always strictly true.
excellent sharp enamels with good clean potting of a difficult vase to pot
