Cold-painted bronze of a camel by Franz Xaver Bergman
Austrian, c. 1910
Height 21cm, width 18cm, depth 7cm
This bronze sculpture of a camel and its rider epitomises the very best of Bergman. The camel is a superb piece of animalier sculpture, and its rider is an expressive and charming addition. The piece, which is crafted from bronze in the Orientalist style, is cold painted with a variety of bright and vibrant pigments. The underside is marked ‘B’ for Bergman.
