Object Description

Each having a lead lined vase shaped urn with lid above a rectangular pedestal on a moulded plinth base. The oval panelled cupboard doors below drainage taps enclose slatted metal shelves.

Sideboard tables and pedestals with vases at each end were, according to Sheraton, ‘much used in spacious dining rooms’ during the last decade of the 18th century. Ref: Edwards, ‘Dictionary of English Furniture’ Lead lined urns were used for iced water. Cupboards with metal slats were used for warming plates.
