Object Description

A rare and unusual Doulton Lambeth silver mounted stoneware pickle dish decorated with stylized leaf designs by Emily Stormer and Fanny Clark dated 1875. The wide round shallow dish has a conical shaped body with a silver mounted rim with simple flat topped handles applied to either side. The body of the dish is decorated with a stylised leaf pattern with almost formed like butterflies with a beaded central ridge. Small relief molded flower heads form a border above and below and the dish is hand painted in tones of blue and brown on a pale blue ground with a simple salt glazed finish to the inner bowl. The dish has an impressed Doulton Lambeth mark along with incised artist marks and is dated 1875. The silver rim has makers marks for Percy Holland & George Gibson and London silver assay marks for 1876.
