Object Description
Early 20th century rosewood antique secretaire cabinet standing on square taper legs. This secretaire is a very fine example of this period of cabinet making. It is made of rosewood which is a very expensive exotic timber, it is covered with finely inlaid boxwood decoration and the drawer linings are made from a good cut of mahogany. The construction is of the best quality with precision cut dovetails and drawers that open and close smoothly. This secretaire has been in the same family since new, was a wedding present to the original owners around a hundred and ten years ago and must have cost a fortune when new. It also has a leather writing surface that slides away when not in use.
