Object Description

This early armorial Charles II silver tobacco box was made in London in 1664 by Simon Noyes and is the earliest recorded fully hallmarked box of it’s type. It has a coat of arms to the pull off lid with the rest of the body being plain. It is fully hallmarked under the base and inside the lid with the makers mark and lion passant. A lovely box with a good colour and feel to it having the accolade of being the earliest fully marked tobacco box known and it weighs 3.45 ounces or 108 grams.
