Object Description
Early 19th century pedestal desk with five drawers and one cupboard on one side. The cupboard is disguised with false drawer fronts. The other side of the desk is finished with mahogany but does not have dummy drawers. Because it does not have drawers both sides the cupboard section of this desk is surprisingly deep. Although pictured here as it came in to us without having been waxed, or otherwise to have received any restoration at all, this desk has attained a wonderful patina and colour in its long life. The leather is nice and old and probably good enough to be waxed and conserved, although it is easy enough to fit a new skiver if required. This desk has good knee room with a 24″ clearance underneath. It can be raised further if required. It has lovely Brahma locks stamped with the makers name.
