Object Description

Edwardian mahogany barograph housed in a bevelled glass display case standing on a raised, moulded plinth and resting on four pad feet.

Seven vacuum chambers upon the brass plate linking the pen arm to the revolving drum and linked to the barometer, silvered dial with five weather indications, demi-lune mercury thermometer and original ‘blued’ steel hand.

‘Barometer makers and retailers’ by Edwin Banfield lists Chadburns as working from 47 Castle Street in Liverpool and Sheffield from 1875 to 1900 and beyond. They are described as options and both mathematical and philosophical instrument makers.
