Object Description

An exquisitely designed and executed diamond, pearl and platinum pendant in its original Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company fitted box. The design is like an upside down Eiffel Tower. A diamond-encircled natural pearl is suspended from an articulated chain of diamonds. It really is a stunning piece of jewellery and displays the finest Edwardian craftsmanship. It is not surprising that HM The King allowed the makers of this jewel to display his name on their boxes.

The pendant would make a fine addition to any antique jewellery collection, as well as a beautiful adornment for a wedding or formal occasion.

Length of chain 47cm.
Pendant 4.2 cm x 1.2 cm x 0.02 cm

Object History

King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra were the leaders of high society during the late 1800s and early 1900s; the trends that they set in fashion and jewellery came to be known as the ‘Edwardian style’. The most typical Edwardian jewellery incorporated a lavish profusion of pearls and diamonds usually set in platinum, just like this pendant.
