An early 20th century Edwardian Scottish Sunday stick. The Church of Scotland’s ban on golfing on Sunday, had the effect of the club makers producing walking sticks fashioned with a golf club head as a handle and they became known as ‘Sunday Clubs’ or ‘Sabbath sticks’.
The stick has an ‘iron’ golf club shaped handle and a mahogany shaft with a brass tip.
The Sunday stick is in good condition. (Circa 1910)
