Object Description

An Egyptian amulet modelled in bright turquoise faience of Thoth, god of science, writing and inventor, in the shape of baboon facing right. The amulet shows the animal seated with a large mane and his forepaws resting on his knees. Characteristics of New Kingdom faience amulets, are the flat and unworked reverse and the suspension loop to the top, which is now missing.

Date: Circa 1390-1353 BC
Period: New Kingdom Period

Fine condition. Missing suspension loop.
