Object Description
An Ancient Egyptian amulet, moulded from dark green faience. It depicts the wedjat eye, or the Eye of Horus, flanked by uraei. Short vertical lines depict the brow, under which two curving cosmetic lines have been rendered. The almond-shaped eye extends outwards, with a circular iris in the centre. From the base of the eye, a short, vertical cheek marking and a diagonal curl, terminating with a spiral, both extend outwards. The wedjat is flanked on both sides by a pair of cobras, surmounted by sun-discs, also known as uraei. The cobras face away from the wedjat, in opposite directions. The reverse is unworked. The amulet presents with a slightly convex profile and has been pierced longitudinally for suspension.
