Object Description
A very fine Ancient Egyptian faience amuletic figure of the god Shu, featuring a striking blue glaze. The god is depicted kneeling down on one knee, on an integrated plinth. Both arms are raised with palms facing forwards. He wears a tripartite wig on his head, along with a postiche. The god’s facial features are worn but still visible, with evidence of rounded eyes, a protruding nose and a small mouth. Careful incisions denote further detail to his drapery and limbs. A flat, vertical column features on the reverse. The amulet is perforated horizontally for suspension.
