Object Description

This elegant Tabriz rug, attributed to Hadji Jalili, has a remarkable quality and creative design characteristics derived from earlier 17th century weavings. A handsome example with an understated vegetable dyed colour combination. A highly decorative rug to complement a wide variety of settings.

Object History

he city of Tabriz in north west Persia has been a major city of fine weaving since the 14th century. It experienced an artistic revival at the end of the 19th century and saw the emergence of one of the most important and influential Master weavers of the era, Hadji Jalili.  He created magnificent court carpets with his unique creative drawings using light colour palettes and impeccable workmanship making them much sought after by interior designers and collectors.  The best Tabriz carpets of this era are attributed to him and his workshop.

Object Condition

It is in very good condition, still retaining its fringes and borders on all sides.
