Object Description

Large scale Windsor armchair constructed from a mix of vernacular woods; the dished seat, the turned stretchers and the cabriole front legs made of elm, the arms made from a single bow of ash as are the turned spindles and lathes, the comb shaped top rail and the cabriole back legs made from fruitwood. Thames Valley, late 18th century.

Object Condition

Old blacksmith repair on the back of the top rail, securing a crack. Losses to the pad feet. Excellent colour and patina
