Object Description

An Exceptional & Rarely Found Mid 18th Century English
Ash & Elm Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table Having
Wonderfully Figured Four Plank Top with Cleated Ends
Raised On Bold Square Legs Retaining Exceptional
Untouched Colour And Patina Throughout

(It is extremely rare to find English 18th century variations
of the traditional farmhouse table still on the market these
days, most that you see are 19th century and French, and
it is even rarer to find them in such excellent condition
retaining such beautiful warm colour and patina. The top
has cleated ends which is a design used to try and ensure that the
planks do not move too much, which has been a successful theory
on this particular table as although there is some movement in the
wood on the edge and in the frame the planks within the top itself
remain firmly together. The size is perfect to seat 10 and the rustic type
top very much lends itself to the table actually being used, as opposed to
just admired, which can often be the case with many of the more
formal mahogany or rosewood dining tables which can be found on
the market today. It really is quite beautiful, perfect for many hours of
home entertaining.)
