Object Description
Circa 1870. Exhibition quality Victorian marquetry inlaid satinwood fitted wardrobe. Surmounted by an architectural cornice and a simple frieze, the left side with a partially glazed mirror door opening to hanging space and drawer, the right side with double cupboard doors with exquisite marquetry inlay opening to original slides, above two short and two long drawers, with original Victorian brass handles. The wardrobe is stamped with ‘Sopwith and Company’, Newcastle Upon Tyne and has a patent ‘trousers hanger’.
